    2009 Casa Marguery Malbec Mendoza
Adnams Wine Casa Marguery source most of their Malbec from the Uco Valley, an area considered to be one of the finest areas in Mendoza. The vineyards are at 1100m above sea level. This altitude is one of the key influencing factors on the quality and style of the wines. The area basks in 250 sunny days a year, the warm daytime is regulated by the extreme fluctuation at night. This prevents the fruit from becoming over ripe and helps the vine to recouperate. A long growing season, alluvial soils and little rain all contribute to fruit of quality and concentration. Vibrant purple in colour, the signature of great Malbec. Aromas of violets and blackberries followed by rich dark fruit and liquorice on the palate. 6 months in French oak barrels has delivered structure and a smoky balance to the fruit. Of course, this Malbec is a perfect match for beef, but try with venison or pheasant as the bold fruit matches the full bodied meats £12.50
